If you have never heard of or used Spotify, go to www.spotify.com or search for Spotify in your app store now. They have an app for iOS, Android, Mac, and PC.
Thanks for coming back. Spotify is the greatest radio you will ever have. Why? Because you can listen to pretty much any song or album you want, whenever you want to listen to it. For free.
If you don’t have the premium account you will get an advertisement occasionally. They are not too bad but can be annoying at times. For instance, you might be listening to bluegrass and the advertisement might begin, “Since you like listening to 50 Cent…” If you don’t mind a few annoying ads, you will be fine.
Spotify has the ability to make playlists of any of your favorite songs or you can choose pre-made playlists based on any genre. I have listened to albums as soon as they are released. They make their money off of the advertisements so this is a completely legal service.
The one negative feature is that with the free account you need to be connected to the internet to listen. You can use wifi or your data plan. If you want to take the extra step, you can pay $9.99/month* for the Premium service and have commercial free listening and the ability to download music for offline listening.
There are other apps that are somewhat similar (Pandora/Slacker Radio) but cannot match Spotify’s ability to give you the exact song you want, when you want it. They play songs similar to what you want and you might occasionally get lucky and hear what you want. You tell Spotify what you want to hear and it plays it.
If you like music, you need Spotify. Get rid of the other apps you are using and “Listen to the right music, Wherever you are."
*I just noticed that if you are a student you can pay $4.99/month for the premium service. Not too bad to have access to any song you want.
