Occasionally I try to give up cokes and other bad for me things for a while. So far, I have not had any carbonated drink in 2014. Normally when I give them up I still want a coke occasionally. This time, I haven't wanted one at all. The only think making this more difficult is that the water in Hamilton tastes like drinking from a swimming pool... Thankfully, my wonderful wife got me this filter bottle for Christmas this year. It has gotten a lot of use so far.
I wonder how many other unnecessary things I can get rid of in my life. I challenge myself and you to consider giving up some junk in your life to make it better. What can you get rid of? Everyone has snow. Except us. Pensacola Florida has snow but when I look out my office window all I see is dead grass. We decided to Facetime Luke and Mindy today and of course they were playing in the snow! Although I did make a snowball yesterday, It would have been nice to go sledding.
I feel bad for everyone who has been stranded in it though. Thankfully, there are some good people in this world still. The people at Chick Fil A in Birmingham were giving out free food to people stranded and Chipper Jones (Future Hall of Famer) went out on his 4 wheeler and saved Freddie Freeman from the Atlanta snowpocalypse. I hope you have fun playing in the snow if you have any. If so, be careful! I made a snowball. As you can see, there is no snow on the ground in this picture. I scraped some snow from the corner of the parking lot. I decided that since it had snowed, I needed to make a snowball since this might be my only chance this year. I made a snowball. Now, it can Summer.
I have decided to become a socks guy. For 27 years I have worn regular ole white socks pretty much every day unless it was a dressy day and I was wearing brown or black socks. Those are boring. My wife, being the awesome wife that she is, bought me two new pairs of socks. They are awesome. Today I have a couple of foxes watching out for me at ankle level. Be jealous. If you ever want an idea for a gift for me, feel free to get me some crazy socks. We will be best friends after that. :o) P.S. This song has been in my head all day thanks to this pair of socks: Today was a great day. Two periods of worship, Bible class with the HYM, devo after worship, and Frisbee in the parking lot all make for a long day, but it was a good one. Now it's time for a big glass of sweet tea and a long nap.
See yall tomorrow. Today was a men's day at the Winfield Church of Christ. It was the first event like this I have attended and am looking forward to many more. Dale Jenkins was the speaker and issued a challenge not only to have a vision for the future, but to act on it.
My fancy MacBook has been running a little slow so I decided to get rid of some stuff on there. I deleted almost 1,300 pictures and still have about 6,000 more to go through. Even if it doesn't speed me up, it should do something to get rid of that much stuff.
How often do we empty trash out of our lives. Don't wait until "Spring Cleaning." Get the nasty stuff out now. I have a problem. I have been in this office for three weeks now and I still have about 11 boxes of stuff that has not found a home yet. Most of them are books where I ran out of shelf space and others are random decorations and stuff. This office is a little bigger than my old one, and somehow I still do not have room for this stuff. And I have a closet here! I think stuff multiplied somehow on the way here. Maybe I will have a yard sale to get rid of some of this stuff. What do you need? I probably have it!
I like to eat. And I like to go on dates with my wife. Today we decided to go on a lunch date to Oh! Bryan's in Hamilton. Pretty much the best salad bar around in my opinion. The chicken strips weren't bad, but this salad was great. I remember a time when I never ate salads. Now, I enjoy them regularly.
If you ever want to do lunch, this is one of the options I will offer. I hope you had a good lunch too! P.S. Kaycee is the best lunch date ever. :o) |
