Today we had the youth and families stay together for lunch after worship. I really like this group lot and am excited to see what the future will hold for them. I hope you are too!
Last night was madness. And I loved it. We decided to have a time to get all of our youth group over to the building for a few hours and play games, eat, and spend time looking at God's word. We expected about 20 young people to be there and by the end we had 45. Wow!
It was an amazing night. I am blessed to work with this group and I am excited about spending many more hours of madness with them in the future. This was an amazing week. We spent most of it in Henderson, Tennessee at Fred-Hardeman University for their lectureships. Although I did not graduate from there, I claim it as my school. I am thankful for my time there and the things I learned.
Let's get real though, when I go back to FHU, I am worried about the 3 B's. Bell's, Bill's, and Besso's. This trip didn't take me to Besso's, which is the fancy coffee shop in town, or to Bill's, which is the best BBQ you can imagine (Not even Memphis can match up to Bill's) although I did get Bill's at a youth minister's luncheon! It is possible to miss out on Bill's and Besso's, but never Bell's. I considered asking in the open forum if it would be possible to get to heaven if you were in Henderson and did not eat at Bell's. I chose not to. Sometimes you just know the answer without asking... If you ever are in Henderson, Tennessee, find Bell's. If you can't find it, look for someone on FHU's campus and ask them to point you in the right direction. You will not be sorry. My good friend Barry spoke in chapel today. It was as awesome as expected. He's sitting now, while David Lipe makes announcements. Yesterday I made a new friend. He is pretty awesome and he lives a great life. It consists of eating, sleeping, and cute baby poots. :)
Another reason lectureship are so great is that you get to catch up with old friends from college. Little Enoch's mom was friends with my wife in school and have maintained a close relationship since then. I am blessed to call them my friends now and to know this little bundle of awesomeness. One of my favorite parts of the FHU lectureship is the youth ministry workshop. There is nothing greater than spending time together with others who share the love of souls and want to be a help to many in need as we strive to get to Heaven together. I have successfully posted a picture every day for a month now. I am thankful to all who have taken the time to look at them since January 1st. I apologize for not having many outstanding photos posted, but this whole thing was designed simply to document the days of my life (without the sand through an hourglass). February should be different. It will take me to some of my favorite and most beautiful places. We will begin with a trip to Freed-Hardeman University for the lectureships. Two weeks later we will be in Pensacola, Florida for another lectureship at the Northwest Florida School of Biblical Studies and then two days after we get home from there, we will be in Gatlinburg for Challenge Youth Conference. Pray for us as we travel so much and I hope to get you some quality pictures for future posts. My high is 92 views on one day. I'll be your best friend if you spread the word about this and help me get over 100. :) Today was the area wide Bible challenge at Double Springs. About 30 young people gathered to go over Acts 11-20. Not many get up early on a Saturday. Even fewer do so to study Bible Bowl questions. I love my work. :)
