Kaycee’s flight to Pensacola made a very logical stop in Texas… It ended up taking her about as long to fly down as it normally takes to drive. I got to the airport about the time her flight was leaving Dallas (or Houston I can’t remember which one it was) and was amazed that I could watch a little graphic of a plane fly across the screen until it landed in Pensacola. I don’t know how long it took, but I watched the screen for a while and then made a lap around the airport. Then I repeated the process a few times until the plane on the screen disappeared.
I had not watched LOST at that time or the plane disappearing on the screen might have bothered me. I just assumed it had landed and stood there waiting for her to come down the hall. Now, if you have never met Kaycee you might not know that she is a little shorter than most of the others who were coming off of that plane. She was almost to me before I actually spotted her but she says she saw me as soon as she got out of the tunnel thingy that connects to the plane.
Once we finally made eye contact there was a lot of smiling (you might be noticing a trend that there is a lot of smiling involved in our story). The last few steps before she finally made it to me were in slow motion. The orchestra began playing in the background, the lights went dim, and everything was perfect for a perfect meeting. Ok, so it wasn’t in slow motion and the lights didn’t dim (that might have startled a lot of people) but it was pretty much perfect. When she got to me we had one of the best hugs we have ever had. We still talk about that hug often.
She was in Pensacola for a few days and stayed with one of the ladies from the church I was working with. We hung out a lot, went to the beach a few times, and enjoyed the time we were together. I still wasn’t sure how yet, but I knew I would be asking her to marry me soon.
To be continued…
(I hope you love teasers and waiting!)
