I decided to try out the old computer that was in my office today. It is running Windows XP and very slow. You can get an iPod with more storage than this computer has! It is amazing how technology changes over the years. Sadly, the MacBook Pro that I am typing this on will soon be out of date and pretty much useless. It is tough to keep up with the changes in technology. It sure is fun to play with though. :o)

Today we did some cleaning and organizing. We started with the closet in my office and then ventured up to the high school room. Getting some good work done too!
Cleaning can be fun...Sometimes. Today as we were walking into the building to prepare for Bible class I heard someone holler my name. I looked and it was my parents. They got up early this morning and drove to Hamilton to be with us for worship today. We had no clue they would be here.
I like surprises. On a day when I wasn't feeling great from the stuffy head I've been dealing with for the past few days, it was a nice surprise to see mama and daddy. And it is always great to have Kaycee by my side. There is still some Sunday left. Make it a good one! We planned to go explore another of our big cities around Hamilton today. Unfortunately, we both woke up not feeling so well.
Instead of going out, we decided to catch up on some movies. As the great Kid President once said, "I looooove Space Jam." If you know me, you know that I have really, really bad allergies. Nasty ones. I am a strange creature in that when I have been in a place for a while, stuff there doesn't bother me as much any longer. Then I moved to Alabama. The past few days I have sneezed more than you can imagine and gone through more tissues than humanly imaginable. Thankfully, I will get used to the stuff here soon and it won't be a bother any longer. Since this post is gross and talking about sneezes and stuff, here is a cute baby panda sneezing. :) I am excited about this lesson I am preparing. I have never done a lesson like this one before. I guess it would be labeled an expository lesson which I have done before, but not using this much text. The goal will be to cover Acts 16 in its entirety. That is a pretty tough task but I am up to the challenge.
Another thing making this lesson unique is that the PowerPoint I will be using will have over 100 slides. Yep, never had one that big before. Here's hoping I don't forget to click the button! I use sticky notes a lot. Normally as I am working in the office I keep one on my desk that looks like this. As I come up with things to do, I write it here. Normally it is simple reminders to talk to someone or plan a certain event. Occasionally, it is something major.
Every year I say I want to read more. This year, I am making myself do it. I am a little behind already on my goal of a book a week, but I will get caught up soon (maybe).
One thing I just started yesterday is a Bible reading plan. One of my struggles in reading is I jump around a lot. I have trouble sitting down and reading without looking ahead to the next chapter to see what is coming up. This particular reading plan was perfect for me. You read 10 chapters a day from 10 different books of the Bible. It is divided into 10 "lists" and when you finish each one, you start it again. I am on day 2 so far and I am really enjoying it. Here is the link to the Facebook page he created for this plan. Check it out for yourself. Grab your Bible and start reading! Grant Horner's Bible Reading Plan Facebook Page Today is a busy day in the office. I have a few different projects going and have started more today. I decided to take a break and do a little decorating. These guys have been hiding under my desk since I moved into the new office and I felt like they needed a proper place to watch me work. Now I have 10 extra eyes staring at me from the couch in my office. I may have to turn them another direction. It's getting a little creepy. Sometimes you just have to make stuff work. When we moved, my tie tack got stored away in a box somewhere. Normally it's not that big of a deal but this particular tie is a little different. It needs special care. What did I do? Tape. When something doesn't want to work right, use tape. If only I could have found the duck tape. |
